ABSTRACT

In this paper the beneficiation of the low grade iron ores at Itakpe mines, Nigeria, is investigated for the production of high quality ores (superconcentrates) required for the Direct Reduction Steel Process.  The key techniques evaluated and compared are the froth flotation and magnetic separation methods. The results of the study showed that the magnetic separation process appeared more productive and more cost effective than the flotation method.
